22 Minute Hard Corps Week 1 | Women’s results

Today I sit and schedule and prep for the start of my next adventure.  See, as soon as Beachbody program comes out I am ready to commit to it as I know they are built for success.  Some programs I am more excited for than others but I do dig into all of them.

As I sat on my cruise in my bikini or lay in my bed on my side, I know just by feel that I am desperately in need of getting back to feeling amazing in my clothes.  I have muffin top syndrome going on right now.  In my eyes I have let myself go.  I have been lacking motivation since almost completing Hammer Master and Chisel (I love that program but life hit me with a curve ball and I had a hard time getting back on the wagon with it).  I am terrified of stepping on the scale in the morning and taking measurements.  I haven’t done that since my TEST GROUP experience with PIYO.  But I have committed to myself and am treating this as if I am in the test group for this program.  I know with that mentality, it is what keeps me pushing everyday including the days I want a big glass of wine or I just want to sleep in and not workout.

My love for Tony Horton is strong.  He was my Beachbody First Love!  So, I will do everything in my power to complete this program EVEN with the Women’s Hockey National Tournament in 1 1/2 weeks.  Traveling on the meal plan will be the most difficult thing to do I will admit.  My goal for the next week and a half is to figure out how to stay on track while traveling to Minnesota.  I am happy that this workout is only 22 minutes and I can stream it on the new Beachbody On Demand App.  (If you have the program, email me and I can share with you how to stream it on an app)

Here is my first go around on the meal planning and I have to tell you that THIS MEAL PLAN is the BEST meal plan that Beachbody has ever done.  They have listened to the consumers and coaches over the years and have blown my mind with how simple it is to follow!!!

I will be hitting the Grocery Store today on the quest to make it super simple to follow and not to bore myself so that I can really just focus on getting my workouts done and not stress about the food.

Hammer and Chisel Day 30 woman’s results

I will start by telling you that I have in 6 years fully completed 4 Beachbody programs from start to finish.  I am not proud of this but I am also human.  In 2009 I completed a full 90 days of P90x and on about day 84 I decided I wanted to be a coach.  I never wanted this “rush” to end.  So for years, every program that came I jumped on with the desire to complete it.

Out of transparency I fell short on Insanity ( I fractured my knee cap playing hockey at day 54), Body Beast (I broke my ankle playing hockey on around day 54), and the rest of the programs I fell short not because they were not great programs, I do love them all, but because I lacked commitment.


The 4 programs I fully committed to and finished were P90x, 21 Day fix, the Ultimate Reset, and PIYO.  Every single one I finished I got amazing results —-> Go Figure, right??

This leads me to this post.  I have no doubt in my mind that I will be finishing the new Masters Hammer and Chisel.  I am on day 31 currently and have not missed a workout and do not intend to miss one.   In fact I believe I will be doing 2 rounds of this program because it is far from repetitive (I think repetition is my nemesis and probably why I didn’t finish some of the other programs).  This program keeps you on your toes and RESULTS are obvious very early on.

I have not hopped on a scale because it plays too many mental games on me and I am sure the scale is up.  But my pants are back to being baggy and I am in love with feeling my abs move when I move, something I forgot happens.  It’s so nice to have abs back.

Have I been following the meal plan?  Yes for the first 2 weeks until the holidays hit.  I have given myself two weeks of freedom while the kids are out of school and with one more day left of it, I will be finishing this round off with NO ALCOHOL.  So I will have my last glass of wine tonight (unless I go to an LA Kings game :)).  I will say I am proud of myself and think that my results have everything to do with the fact I have had ZERO BEER… Beer is no bueno on this program… so while I have treated myself during these two weeks it has not been horrible.

I can say that at age 43 I am happy, healthy and ready to shed some more fat.  I trust the system as always and am committed to sharing my 60 day of results here.

Back in the Game

How I Returned From Injury

2013 started off like the last 3 years had started. I was excited to continue my fitness journey and determined to meet new fitness goals. See after years of fighting to get and keep weight off I was finally in the zone, dialed into the programs and the community. Nothing was going to stop me.

I stayed focused on my new Beachbody program Body Beast and continued to eat like I had on the Ultimate Reset. I was playing Ice Hockey multiple times a week in preparation for a national tournament. I had always known that if I was goingto perform on the ice at a higher level I was going to need to be in the best shape I had been in all year. I would continue to work towards getting stronger and building my “on-ice” stamina so I was ready to go.

April 4, 2013 I participate in the USA Woman’s National Ice Hockey tournament, where players from all over the country competed. Many of them former collegiate players. This was our 4th year attending as a team in hopes to improve our results.

April 6, 2013 after a disappointing first 2 games of the tournament we were scheduled to play what most likely was going to be our last game of the weekend. The game was like every other game that weekend, competitive, and a huge challenge and by then we were pretty exhausted. No different until….

I was purposely “lined-up” for a hit by an opposing player. See, there is no checking in woman’s hockey but there is certainly physical play. This however was “revenge” for a previous play. Earlier my stick creeped up a little too high on a play so I knew this girl was gunning for me. I turned to brace myself for the hit by facing her like I would normally do and “BAM” there it was. I went down on the ice and instantly knew this was not the normal “tweak” of the leg. I tried to get up with no luck. I knew the my leg was broken.

I had seen this happen numerous times over the years in hockey games and tournaments I played in but always said to myself “glad that wasn’t me”. Except this time it was ME.


After a visit to the Emergency Room in an unfamiliar city and a flight home receiving special boarding treatment it was time to face the Orthopedic doctor to see what the course of action would be. SURGERY he said! I knew as an old Operating Room nurse that surgery would definitely fix this Fibula Fracture, but I was pretty frightened of the recovery. I had no idea what to expect and only heard horror stories about being in rehab and physical therapy for months.

So the surgery was not scary, nor was the night in the hospital I spent. But I continued to fear the unknown. I figured since I had been working out in the past consistently I would be able to do the same and just work on the Upper Body.

I finally had to be real with myself and my situation and recover. So, I recovered on my couch for five weeks before returning back to work. I worked out one time in those five weeks. Instead of feeling sorry for myself and emotionally eat, I knew I could and would at least control my nutrition. I knew I could get up with my crutches and hobble to the kitchen and blend. I knew that if I could be consistent with at least that I would be fine and that is what I focused on for five weeks. So I drank my Shakeology EVERY DAY!

During that five weeks I had a walking boot on my leg but could not put any pressure on it. I did not attend any physical therapy or see any doctor as it was not ordered. The only activity I could do is take the boot off while I sat on the couch and flex and relax my foot and ankle. Once I went back to work I was able to slowly put pressure on it. As I progressed I started to walk with the boot on. At that point I told myself it’s time to get back into the gym. So I started to push play again and started Body Beast for the second time (I had gotten today 54 when I broke my leg). I was determined just to do my best to not get frustrated.

I was able to attend our annual Beachbody Coach Summit and attend some of the live workouts but wore a brace and absolutely modified my moves accordingly. This event was approximately 2 1/2 months after my surgery.

Since then I have continued to work hard, not perfect, but hard. I have removed the brace and have focused on getting back on the ice. I knew that if I was going to do that I could not use any supportive equipment, Because they wouldn’t fit in the food.

About four months after my surgery I took the leap of faith and decided to join my husband on the ice in a “pick up” hockey game, where there was no pressure and I could quit whenever I wanted to. Turns out I lasted the whole “pick up”game and just walked away sore.

This weekend, however, was a milestone for me. I took a deep breath and committed to playing in a woman’s hockey tournament. I knew this would be a mix of skill levels so of all times to test the leg out, now was the time. What was the worst that could happen? I would stop in and the weekend early. After the first game back I sat and replayed the game in my head. I sat and thought about how my ankle felt. “Hey it feels great!” I thought to myself I shouldn’t have any problem getting through a second game, a third, a fourth and yes a fifth game. When I finish the fourth game I thought “Heck yeah I am back!”

Game number five was the Championship game and I was prepared. About halfway through the game a woman on the other team fell on the leg forcing it to rotate in the wrong direction. I thought “Oh crap that hurt, just great”. I continue to monitor it in my head, searching for real pain, but there really was only a twinge the rest of the game. As I sat in the locker room after that last game, I thought to myself “I can’t believe it has been 5 and a half months and I was back on the ice let alone played five games in a span of three days.”


Then I thought how blessed I was to return from injury for 5 different reasons:

1-I had an excellent surgeon who put me back into one piece.
2-I’m glad I broke my leg when I was probably the strongest I had ever been, thanks to being consistent with my Beachbody workouts for almost 4 years.
3-My body was at optimal with nutrition since drinking Shakeology for the last three years and every day during my recovery.
4-I surrounded myself by a community that pulled me through mentally I found this community in August 2009 when I lost significant weight for the very last time.
5-Family that supported me in continuing my passion human after such a traumatic event.

I was frightened that this would affect me forever, this would set me back, this would take away all the hard work I had already done. I will say my ankle is always sore, it is always swollen, it is always sensitive. also know there is no way I am going to waste my time feeling sorry for myself and wait until There is zero pain or soreness. It is stable and therefore I need to be stable.

Les Mills Pump Results Female | Day 1 to Day 30 Pictures

For the last 3 years I have taken on just about every Beachbody workout they have put out.  Beginning with P90x (you can see my original journey here).

The Beachbody Programs I have done in their entirety are:  P90x2, Insanity, and Insanity Asylum. You can see my Insanity Asylum here.

I have loved all the workouts I have done but not all have captured my attention for the ENTIRE program. My last attempt to finish a program was a failure due to EXC– USE ALERT: Women’s National Hockey Tournament and lots of hockey.  I finished 6 weeks of P90x 2 and what I did love about it was all the BASE and CORE work which helped with prepping for the National Tournament.  But I was ready for MORE results.  I wanted to see those ABS and really see my AB FAT disappear.

I started seeing my friends with major results going through their 90 days of Les Mills.  People that I thought didnt need the improvements.  OH MY they Looked Amazing!!

What originally deterred me was the cost.  Even with a 25% COACH Discount (if you want more information on that its here).  For the Basic Set Retail it is $ $165.85 and the Deluxe set is $305.85.. Then I thought about it, well, this comes with equipment that I don’t have and I will end up ALWAYS having unlike a Gym Membership!

I had the pleasure of being invited to a private Facebook group that the participants were all doing Pump and they were all incorporating the Bonus Cardio DVDs with the STEP and the extra weights, instead of the suggested Walking or Hiking.

Since I am tied to working out at home, being a busy working mom I decided I NEEDED those Cardio DVDs.  So, I made the investment and ordered the Deluxe Set (Picture)

When the Package arrived it was like Christmas for me, so many boxes to open.  I felt like a KID!

I set my start date for after my Beachbody Reward TRIP and my trip to Nationals in Boston.  This gave me time to review the nutrition guide, because I know how important it is to follow and achieve results for the last 3 years.  I have eaten clean and worked out but havent followed a nutrition guide since my first round of P90x.  So this was the time for me to JUST DO IT!

I plugged the schedule in starting on a MONDAY but making sure my REST days fell on Tuesday night when I could spend quality time with my Husband.  I also substituted one day weekly for my weekly hockey game for CARDIO.

So my schedule was set and I decided to do the 7 day JUMP START NUTRITION GUIDE.  I was highly succesful getting through this first week, you can see why in my review here.

My first week I was down 6 lbs and felt so great.  Here are my thoughts about the workouts themselves.

This program has been in the last 30 days the 1st workout since my 1st round of P90x that I am EXCITED to do my next workout, like excited Beyond Belief!!

I love the International Accents, the motivation of the Trainers, and the Music Choices.  Best of all:  THE WORKOUTS go by so incredibly fast because of the blocks or tracks they are broken up into.  They are very easy to follow and most importantly easy to MODIFY!

This program is for Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced Exercisers and is definitely for Men and Women alike.

My 30 day results so far are that I am down 8 lbs and inches are gone off my thighs and hips and even MY WAIST.  The Belly Fat is finally disappearing.  My arms are showing way more definition and are thinning out which make them fun to look at when you are driving, HEE HEE.

A Day in the life of Anna Gray | Mom | RN | Fitness Coach

What does a day in the life of a busy mom who works Fulltime as a Registered Nurse, owns her own successful Home Business and enjoys playing hockey every week look like?  Many have asked and now I would like to share with the world.

Let me start out by saying in my case I have to give a very large amount of credit to my wonderful husband of almost 14 years Jeremy Gray is my true love as well as my partner in crime.  He has a very successful Real Estate business for which many hours a week consume him.  But he does have the flexibility to play a huge role in parenting and running the daily household.  The key to keeping the marriage stronge is by far COMMUNICATION, SUPPORT, Bi-Monthly at minimum date nights, and daily “I love you’s”.

So, back to a day in the life of me.  Some say Why do you do so much, some say how do you do so much?

I learned from the best! My MOM (who ironically is a Business Partner now).  I watched her excel in her career year after year and saw her Recognition and Support she received and just naturally expected that in my life.

So fast forward 20 + years laster, many years of schooling for a career in Nursing and moving up the nursing ranks.  I thought I had make it, my life was fulfilled.  I had reached a payscale only few had or really wanted to (Being youn and naive I realized that many RN’s never aspired to be in a  management role).  Now I am older and wiser.  I completely respect my nursing profession and LOVE it.  My 10 years in the Operating Room were some of my favorite years and my last 4 years as a RN Clinical Applications Analyst has been so incredibly fun to learn everyday (the natural student in me).  So, why would I start my own business.  Well Ironically my business started for me when I decided to make a gigantic change in my life.  I decided enough was enough and I wanted to lose weight and feel great and stop going through the motions.

When I took on helping people achieve their health and fitness goals after reaching my own.  I had no idea what kind of business this could turn into.  The more people I helped the more people I wanted to help.  Then as everybody amazingly, money started to appear.  WHAT??? I GET PAID FOR THIS??? How cool is this!  Ohh now what are my dreams and goals, now that I see this as possible.  I adjusted my goals accordingly and realized this IS A Business and a Business I LOVE!

So because I love this Business so much and it has become my passion and has gotten me closer to my goals I would have never dreamed about.  I have made the time in my busy schedule to follow my passion, so HERE GOES:

  • 735am-10am Work as an RN Clinical Systems Analyst
  • 10-10:15am Snack-Reach out to people that need help while I snack
  • 10:15am-12:00pm Work my Fulltime Job
  • 12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch-
    • Take any phone calls with my coaches or customers, 15 min
    • Email Customers
    • Find interesting Health and fitness information to share
  • 1:00-4pm Work my Fulltime Job
  • 4pm-4:15pm afternoon snack, make my SHAKEOLOGY and reach out to those that need help
  • 4:15pm-6:30pm Work my Fulltime Job
  • 6:30pm-7:15pm-Phone calls on the way home if needed, if no phone calls then listen to Personal Development
  • 7:15pm-Phone/Computer is put away for family time
    • Make dinner if my husband hasnt already
    • play with kids
    • Bathe kids
    • Book and Bedtime
  • 9:00pm Change Clothes for workout
  • 9:00-10:00pm Workout, Log workout in WOWY SuperGym
  • 10:00pm Check on my Challenge Groups, finish email follow up for the day, make the kids lunch
  • 11:00pm shower and Bed

So not this is not 8 hours of sleep but I have the ability to get 8 hours of sleep on Fri, Sat, Sun when I dont work my fulltime job.   Sometimes I have to force myself for an 11pm bedtime because I am having so much fun and get caught up in the moments.  I take Tuesday night off from my workout as a rest day to sit on the couch with my hubby and watch a favorite show.

So for just over 2 hours of work on my Business a day I have made a significant difference in others lives (or so they sometimes tell me :)) and a substantial amount of supplemental income.

On Fridays, I have a little more time to work on my business as I am off from my fulltime job (I work 4 10 hour shifts) but traditionally I go with my husband to drop the kids off at school and go out for breakfast for a breakfast date.  On Saturdays and Sundays I typically work about 2 hours on my business or less.

So a total of about 12 hours on my business and currently (May 2012) I am making approximately $5,000 a month with it.  I have been in this business for just under 3 years and have certainly had my growing pains just like any other new job, great thing about starting this business, is ZERO overhead like a traditional business.  Oh yeah and I have been able to do this WITH A FULLTIME JOB! Who could get a $5,000/month raise in 3 years in their traditional job.

Great thing is looking at what that will be at year 5 and what is even more fun is that my team of coaches are reaching their financial milestones so much quicker nowadays because there are so many ways to reach out to people and help them live fulfilling lives.  The reason they are reaching it so much quicker is that we have a very simple training system we plug them into that was not in place when I started.  All these coaches are products of the products and have changed their lives tremendously.
